Thornaby Town Council News : 25 November 2009

New Bus Service

After many months of trying to reach a solution, Thornaby Town Council has now hopefully found the answer to the problem of no or very limited public bus services in areas of Thornaby.

From Monday 7th December 2009 Thornaby Town Council in conjunction with Stockton Borough Council will pilot a new service in Thornaby to Link travellers to commercial bus routes. If after 3 months it proves to be successful we hope to roll it out over five days.

The route will take in Acklam Road, Lanehouse Road, Thornaby Road, Sherwood Road, and Teesdale, along with both Thornaby and Stockton Town Centres.

To use the service you need to live in Thornaby, be a concessionary bus pass holder, registered with Thornaby Town Council. After registration you will be issued with a special pass which will be provided free of charge together with route details.

The bus is adapted for disabled users and can hold both wheelchairs and mobile scooters.
